We are running a bunch of errands today—so I’m keeping today’s email quick. We’re headed out to Ikea to pick up some baby stuff, the Italian specialty store so I can make a big Sunday gravy this weekend, and out to get some Japanese food—yum ramen!
Technique of the Day
Today’s page was a simple one. I had so much fun collaging yesterday that I decided we’d do some more cutting and pasting today. I grabbed my long strips and decided to go with some bright colors (the pink and orange one really grabbed my eye) to decorate today’s page.
Strip pages are some of the easiest pages to make. All you need are scraps of paper the same size or longer than your notebook—in my case that’s five and a half inches. I pulled out a bunch of scraps that all came from older gel prints. You can do this with gel prints, patterned papers, or whatever other scraps you’ve got around your desk.
After adding all the vertical strips, I pulled out this wonderful quote from Brandi Kincaid, cut it up, and arranged it right on the strips. I love how all the bright colors leak through the little lines.

Tips & Creative Wisdom
Quotes Love Color
Text pops even more when it’s sitting on top of a bright, busy background. It’s like giving your words a little stage to stand on.
Pro Tip: Cut your quote into short lines or phrases before gluing—it adds rhythm and helps it read like poetry.
