Daily Pages: Tomatoes, Notebooks, and a Little Hope

Making art, staying cozy, and writing to my future self.

Oooh, it’s stormy out today. I think we hit the last of the really cold days, and now we’re into the rainy part of the season. This isn’t much better for my headaches, but that’s okay too. We’ll get through it, and then it’ll be the end of spring and my favorite time of the year.

Yes, I’m a homebody that loves the summer. We do exist. I love the produce, I love my garden, I love going to the beach at 5pm (the hottest part of the day) when everyone else is headed out for the evening.

If you’re not already registered to join us next weekend for my Daily Pages Live Fifth Anniversary celebration, please join us. I would love everyone to come and make some fun art with us. You’ll learn a little more about my version of creative journaling and how I’ve built up, been consistent, and continued to have fun, with this Daily Pages project.

Technique of the Day

I had no idea what I wanted to do when I got to my desk, so I pulled out my latest package of Hope from Brandi Kincaid. This month was especially good, and there are still a bunch of things in there I want to incorporate into my notebook.

Today, I pulled out the tomato illustration, so I could add in a tiny story about how I need to get my tomato (and pepper) seeds started this weekend. I love using my notebook as a way to keep myself accountable in other areas of my life lol.

Tips & Creative Wisdom

Use your notebook to talk to future you

Adding small reminders (like starting seeds or planning for the weekend) into your pages is a great way to stay present and get things done. Sometimes I even do a full on brain dump via mind map. It’s so helpful to get things out of your head and onto the page.

Pro Tip: Treat Daily Pages like a chat with your future self—write down what you want to remember, notice, or follow through on.
