The weather has both my headaches and my allergies terribly upset. For today’s page, I needed something easy and uplifting. Yesterday, when I was going through my gel prints, I realized I had a ton of scrap strips and it was probably time for a strip page.
I also found this great card from Brandi that I wanted to use—warm colors and the perfect uplifting message. Only problem—I didn’t actually have that many warm colored scraps. So I grabbed what I had, put them on the page, and went to cutting up the postcard.
I’m thrilled with how the page came out, but still pretty amused by the fact that yesterday I was like—I have so much of this stuff, must use now. And then today, realizing that I was just wrong about what I have, and that maybe I need to get some more warm colored paints to mix into my collection (I put a bunch of stuff in my Blick cart).
Technique of the Day
The biggest decision I had today was figuring out how much of this white space I wanted to cut away from these letters. It was going to take me a solid hour if I wanted to cut out the outlines completely. I didn’t have an hour, and my head was not going to go for that either.
So, I cut as much of the white space off the top of the letter as I could, and I left the underneath part alone. This let the letters stand out just a bit more, and I didn’t have to make complicated cuts that would have just frustrated me.
I’m super happy with how it turned out.

Tips & Creative Wisdom
Cut Smart, Not Complicated
On low-energy days, simplify your cutting decisions. You don’t have to trim around every detail to make an impact—choose the parts that matter most and skip the fussy stuff.
Pro Tip: Try a combo cut—clean up the top edges for visual clarity and leave the rest raw for contrast and texture.
