Today, I was cleaning up right before my Daily Pages Live show and I found a few Brandi Kincaid stickers that caught my eye. They all had basically the same color palette—purples, greens, some poppy, and some pinks. So, I thought I’d grab those paint colors and create something on the gel plate.
I’m happy with how today’s page came out, even if the painting is a little messy. It’s absolutely what I wanted to do from the onset; now I just need some more practice with the paintbrushes on the gel plate.
Technique of the Day
I put down a stencil and just added some of the different colored paints over the squares inside the stencil. Just adding some paint here and there—not really caring how much of each color, or making things even. I just wanted a bit of each of the colors. I added some beige as my background color and lifted up the print.
I’ve still got that pan pastel flower stain on there that I can’t seem to get off, but at least it’s not coming off on my prints anymore.
I love this idea of pulling the colors from a sticker or die cut (or photo?) and then using that to pull a gel print. I’ll have to work on creating different background styles/textures in order to get some that work with the different little bits I’ve got lying around. Yay!
