Daily Pages: Matching Paint + Art Cards

Keeping things fun and interesting

We really are in the height of summer now. I’m loving all the produce. I could take or leave the heat. I’ve been getting up super early every day and getting all my computer work done before it gets too hot.

Which then means I’m either taking an afternoon nap, or struggling to stay awake as the sun goes down at 9:30. That’s okay. I love the summer. I love these days. I love seeing everything growing and alive outside.

When I got to my desk for today’s page, I just wanted to have some fun. I didn’t feel the need to do anything particular (I completely forgot about Thursday3) and I just wanted to have some fun.

Technique of the Day

I’ve had this Brandi Kincaid card on my desk for a few weeks now. One of my favorite things to do when I’m just playing around is to grab an art card like this one, and pull out the colors to put into a background page. Whether it’s collage, gel printing, or whatever—it’s a great way to make sure everything coordinates.

My background came out a little more orange than I wanted, so I went back and added in some yellow with a stencil over the already printed gel print—go up to the video and check out the addition, it really helped with the background.

To finish up, I added the quote and then some black lines around the words to really make them pop. I’m always a huge fan for bold black lines on top of bright colors.
