I’m taking some time off over the next few weeks1, we’re doing some family visiting, and getting in some much needed downtime. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do for today’s page, since my brain is mostly pre-occupied with everything I need to get done.
I decided to use that to my advantage today and journal a little bit of a to-do list to get all that stuff out of my head. I think this is one of my favorite things about Daily Pages. They can be about absolutely anything. You don’t always need to be documenting for posterity. In fact, Field Notes—the people who make the notebooks I use—has a saying: I’m not writing it down to remember it later, I’m writing it down to remember it now. Which is exactly what I did with today’s Daily Page.
Technique of the Day
I grabbed a gel print scrap that I had on the side of my desk and used that as the background for my left side. This is where I wanted my title to be, with the journaling on the other side of the notebook. Since the background was super busy, I knew my title needed to have a background to it, in order to stand on its own.
I grabbed some rectangular printed letter stickers, the plain background perfect for what I needed. Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough S or Ts in one color, so I added in a second color so I could get the title that I wanted. I’m a huge fan of mixing in different color letters to make your title say exactly what you want. Especially, on a messy art journaly page like this one.

Tips & Creative Wisdom
Mismatch = Magic
Running out of matching letters isn’t a mistake—it’s a design choice. Mixed colors and fonts bring energy to your page.
Pro Tip: Embrace the mix when you’re short on stickers. The contrast makes your title pop even more.
