Daily Pages: Kicking Off Spooky Season

Starting a new notebook for October

I had so much fun putting together my spooky season Daily Pages notebook last year, that I knew I wanted to do it again this year. I don’t get that many opportunities to use up all the fun halloween themed supplies that I’ve amassed over the years, and this is such an easy way to play with stuff that usually just sits around for way too long.

It’s also Threshing Day! A fictional holiday from the Fourth Wing universe. If you’ve been reading my Currently Lists over the past year, you know it’s my new obsession, and I’m almost always re-reading or listening to the audiobooks. So, I decided to bring that into today’s notebook page and journal a bit about the series. Even though I’m sorely lacking dragon stickers (pls share your favs!).

Technique of the Day

I started out with my front page, I just grabbed something from the Pipsticks little zine that comes with all their sticker packages and added a little date label to the front. Super easy.

For the big page, I grabbed some lightning paper to match the theme, and then got some black letter stickers.

I’m pretty good at being anti-perfectionist in my Daily Pages, but the one thing I still get a little too worked up over is even letter stickers. One of the ways I make it a lot easier on myself is writing out the title/phrase on a sheet of scrap paper first. That way I can count the letters, find the middle, and start there.

I also created a little library pocket to go with my library card style journaling bit. I made the pocket out of a 3x3 post-it that I picked up from the NYC Muji store while I was away last week. You can do this with any bit of scrap paper, just add glue to the sides and bottom of your paper, and slip your little card right in the top.

Tips & Creative Wisdom

Center Your Stickers

Even titles feel less stressful when you map them out first. A little planning makes all the difference.

Pro Tip: Write your phrase on scrap paper, count the letters, and start from the middle. No more sticker panic.
