Even though I’m definitely feeling better than I have over the past few weeks—thanks modern medicine and better weather—I’m still not back to anywhere near 100%. Luckily I’m pretty good at figuring out how to do art when I’m not feeling awesome.
I’ve got a few favorite techniques that I fall back on during some of the days where I’ve just got less spoons.
Some of the things you might see on my slow day Daily Pages:
Stickerscapes
Repeating stamped backgrounds
Precision cutting (fussy cutting)
Things you won’t see:
Lots of journaling
Complex patterns
Perfectly measured elements
For today’s page, I grabbed a new envelope of paper goods from my friend Brandi, and decided that we would play around with something inside.
Technique of the Day
I picked out this art print with a bunch of different flowers illustrated by Brandi. In the video, I describe what I’m thinking about while I’m cutting out the different elements. Today, I was more concerned with nice round lines (making them look like stickers) instead of cutting really close to the illustration.
There are no hard and fast rules for how to cut stuff out of paper, so have fun with it. Figure out which scissors you like to use best. Decide how you want to arrange things on the page.
When I’m having a slow day, like today, this is one of my favorite things to do. I finished up the page with a simple background paper and a few words I had lying around.
