Happy Monday friends—what’s going on in your week? It’s finally really nice out and I’m enjoying having the curtains open and looking out the windows to more and more green each day.
I’m thinking a lot about texture right now—I pulled apart a paper towel and used that for today’s page background, I love it and I’ll absolutely be doing that again in the future. I’m going to see what other kinds of textures I can get on the plate this week.
Technique of the Day
This week’s Currently List:
Watching:
The NFL draft. And boy, was this a draft for the (drama-related) ages. I don’t think a fictional version of this would have been realistic. The ups and downs of the weekend and the biggest nepo baby we’ve ever seen in the NFL—it all makes for reality television gold.
Also watching the final season of You. It got terrible reviews, so I was even more excited to put it on? I’m finding it absolutely hilarious. I’ve got a handful of episodes left, and I’ll definitely finish it up over the next few days.
I need to catch up on Gemstones tonight.
Reading:
Iron Flame.
It’s absolutely impossible to read new stuff during bad headache months; so I stick to whatever fantasy world I’m obsessed with at the moment. And right now, it’s Fourth Wing and the two (so-far) sequels.
Listening:
Lord of the Rings: Fellowship. It’s what I’m listening to fall asleep at night. It’s taking *forever*; but that’s a feature, not a bug. They’ve just put the fellowship together, and they’re getting ready to leave Rivendell. We’ve got a long journey ahead of us.
Making:
Lemon Bars. I’m trying out a bunch of different recipes to see which ones I like the most so I can develop my own perfect lemon bar recipe.
So far I’ve tried: Sally’s Baking Addiction and Martha Stewart. I want to try the Melissa Clark ones next. If you’ve got a fav, lemme know below.
Feeling:
Much better than I have been. We’ve still got another few weeks of the move into spring, so I’m not celebrating the finish of the bad headache times, just really appreciating the reprieve.
Planning:
Garden stuff. I need a few more peppers. I’ve got a ton of tomatoes. They’re starting to get their first leaves and in a few weeks I’ll get them outside. I think I’m going to buy some plants at the MSU plant sale as well.
Loving:
The weather.

Tips & Creative Wisdom
Let Texture Lead the Way
Today’s page started with a paper towel on the gel plate—a simple texture that sparked the whole background design. It’s important to not always chase huge ideas. Sometimes a small supply shift can open up a brand-new phase.
Pro Tip: Trust small experiments to create big impact.
