Today, I spent most of my time playing around with color blocking on the gel plate. I wanted to see what would happen when I overlapped different paint colors with one another.
Also—you only get to listen to the first half of the third Fourth Wing dramatic audiobook for the first time once. And that’s today. I love this series, even if I really don’t love the fandom.
Technique of the Day
The thing I found most interesting about playing around with paint today is how the different paints (they’re all the same brand) reacted with the Sharpie Creative Markers. On the darker orange and the white, the black paint marker showed up well. On the lighter color, it decided to bead up a lot more. It dried pretty quickly, and I’m going to play around with colors a bit more tomorrow—but it’s so interesting how the different color paints react with each other.

Tips & Creative Wisdom
Color Experimenting Can Teach You More Than You Think
I wasn’t expecting the paints I used today to react so differently with the same black marker—but that’s what happened. It reminded me how important it is to stay curious and let the materials lead sometimes.
Pro Tip: Even if you’re using paints from the same brand, test how they interact with your other tools. Things like glossiness, opacity, and texture will change everything.
