Today was one of those days where everything was just not working out in my favor. I woke up this morning to my bed shaking and loud thundersnow happening outside. Massive storm hanging around all day, just bringing in a ton of warm air (perfect for terrible headaches). Also tech issues plagued my morning. Never fun.
Luckily I’ve got all the essentials already handled for Saturday’s Daily Pages Fifth Anniversary celebration, and everything I’m doing from today on is just extra fun and cool stuff.
I’m ready for a nap, but I’ve got a podcast recording tonight all about why rest is an essential part of the creative process. So, I’m gonna stay up a bit longer, take some headache meds, and get an early night’s sleep instead of trying to cram in an afternoon nap.
Technique of the Day
Today’s page did not work out the way I planned either. I started out on the gel plate, layering up some stuff, and then I put down some sticker paper, and between all the layers I put on there, and the layers of the sticker paper, it just did not want to dry in any reasonable amount of time. So—I put it aside, and we’ll pull it off tomorrow when it’s fully dry.
Instead, I grabbed the brayer sheet where I had been cleaning off my paint and used that as a background page instead. It reminded me of desert colors, so I pulled out some photos of Arizona and used one that matched the vibes.

Tips & Creative Wisdom
🎨 Let the Vibes Choose the Story
The desert-y colors from the brayer sheet inspired today’s photo choice. This simple technique of visual storytelling is a great way to keep your pages feeling intuitive and grounded—even when your energy is low.
Pro Tip: Match your photos to the colors or emotions of your background instead of building around a specific story.
