I’m still feeling a little tired after a few rough headache days—we are getting a ton of rain this week. Yay for the plants. Boo for my head.
So, you ever have one of those days where your brain’s a little sideways and everything you touch ends up a tiny bit stickier than you planned? That was me during today’s Daily Pages session. My brayer was finally clean (yay), but the rest of my supplies? Not so much. Paint was everywhere—on my hands, on the paper, on the floor—honestly, just a rolling disaster..
But honestly? The page still turned out great. And I think that’s the magic Daily Pages. You don’t have to feel organized or on top of things to make something worth keeping. You can make cool stuff on uncool days.
Technique of the Day
One of the things that helped this page feel more intentional was starting with a deep black background and layering on top of it.
I used two types of black—one with blue undertones, one more red—and then added bright warm colors on top (yellow, pink, and red).
The darker layer gave us some depth that really made the bright colors pop, even with some smudges and mess.
The dark color in the background, also made it super easy to pick out the color for my title—these dark charcoal boxy letters really work with everything we’ve already got.

Tips & Creative Wisdom
You Don’t Need a Clean Desk to Make Magic
Some days the paint ends up everywhere, and your supplies feel more chaotic than creative. But that doesn’t mean your page can’t be great.
Pro Tip: Let the mess be part of the process. You’re not doing it wrong—you’re just in it.
