Jeff and I spent a bunch of our early 20’s hanging out in NYC. On any given weekend you could find us in the city seeing a show, checking out some good food, or just walking around and people-watching. It was such a great experience and a real formative time in our relationship.
I’m having so much fun talking these older photos and creating scrapbook style layouts with my gel prints. Now that I feel like I’ve gotten into a bit of a groove with the prints, I’m a lot more likely to try to do something specific, as opposed to just experimenting or playing around.
Technique of the Day
For this page, I wanted something a little dark and grungy to match the overgrown fence. This is definitely one of those orphaned photos I’ve been telling you about—leftover after scrapbooking the rest of our weekend photos (it was a good weekend, we went to go see the Kara Walker installation and spent time with my amazing sister-in-law). There isn’t much of a story here; other than the colors are pretty, and it’s a very lived in scene. So just putting the word Brooklyn over on the other side is enough.
