I had such a fun time making today’s page, and if you check out the full video, you’ll hear me talk all about how I deal with my “Orphaned Photos” and getting more stories told. Like this one, about our old bedroom back in our North Jersey apartment. It was so big, and had such a weird closet. Core memories.
Technique of the Day
I enjoyed making the background for today’s page. I didn’t really mean to create like a tiger print (or really have any brown at all). But that’s the way the colors came together. You can watch the full video to see how it came together in real time.
It’s been pretty fun, playing with different textures and materials to create unique backgrounds on the gel plate. I’ve been meaning to play around with some bubble wrap that I’ve got stored, but it slips my mind every day. Hopefully, now that I’ve mentioned it here, I’ll so a better job of remembering it tomorrow!

Tips & Creative Wisdom
Embrace Unexpected Color Combos
Today’s background wasn’t meant to turn out tiger-striped—but that’s what makes it magic. Sometimes, the most fun textures and colors come from just playing around without expectations.
Pro Tip: If your paint palette surprises you, roll with it—you might just discover a new favorite combo.
