Welcome to Your Story Matters by rukristin

Ready to tell your story, in just five minutes a day?

If you're looking for a way to tell your story that doesn’t involve scrolling, hustle culture, or posting for the algorithm—but does involve stickers, pretty paper, and your authentic self?, You’re in the right place.

I’m Kristin (she/her), your feminist creative journaling BFF, and I’ve been helping people tell the stories of their lives with paper, photos, washi tape, and whatever else they’ve got on hand for the past 20 years.

This is where we make creativity work for your life — not the other way around.

What You'll Find Here

This newsletter is where I share my creative journaling practice—it’s called Daily Pages, and it’s my favorite way to slow down, reflect, and tell my story. I’ve been doing it nearly every day since 2018, and I’ve taught thousands of people how to make it their own.

Every week, I send out personal stories, creative tips, and ideas to help you build your own daily (or a-few-times-a-week) creative habit. You’ll also get behind-the-scenes flip-throughs of my finished notebooks, supply lists, creative process videos, and some very real talk about what it means to make art in the middle of real life.

Your Story Matters by rukristin is supported by creative humans just like you. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

Not on Social Media Anymore? Same.

I don’t spend time on social media these days—and you don’t have to either.

Everything I post is either in your inbox or on my site at rukristin.com. I run this whole thing through the Substack platform, so you can read it in your email or on the site—totally your choice.

I don’t have the apps on my phone. I post from my computer and then I log off. You never have to catch me at the right time or beat an algorithm. Just open your inbox when it works for you.

And hey—I’m always down to chat. Hit reply on any email or write to me directly at rukristin@rukristin.com. I usually respond within a day or two. This is a two-way conversation.

My Origin Story

I'm Kristin, a North NJ native and current live in East Lansing, MI; right down the street from Michigan State University. I’m a Rutgers alum, and the founder of The Awesome Ladies Project and host of the Crafty Ass Female podcast.

I’ve been scrapbooking since high school. I’ve always believed in the power of everyday storytelling. But in the summer of 2018, I was totally burned out—like, creatively fried. I needed something small and doable, something I could show up for even when everything felt overwhelming.

So I started Daily Pages: a small notebook, five minutes a day, no rules.

That one habit changed everything.

During the pandemic, I began hosting Daily Pages Live sessions to stay connected with my community. We showed up together, every weekday, to create in the middle of chaos. That routine stuck—and five years later, we’re still meeting Monday through Friday at Noon ET to make things together.

You can explore the full Daily Pages Archive1, join a live flipthrough session, or just lurk until you’re ready to dive in. There’s no one right way to do this—just your way.

When I'm not doing art or writing about doing art you’ll catch me being a television snob, playing video games, making food, and tending to my plant babies.

From the Community

A few words from the amazing people who’ve made Daily Pages, creative journaling, and feminist storytelling part of their real lives:

Before You Go...

If you're even a little bit curious about creative journaling, storytelling, or what it feels like to take up space with your voice — sign up for the free newsletter. That’s it. Just one small step.

You can always upgrade later, but this gets you started.

Because no matter what your life looks like right now — there is room for this.

📓 Five minutes a day. A few days a week. That’s all it takes to build a practice that supports your creativity and helps you tell the story only you can tell.

✨ Your story matters.

Let’s tell it, together.

xo, Kristin
