I am the storyteller of my family, I hold the memories in my heart and in my books. I've pretty much given up scrapbooking 12x12 now and I'm just keeping monthly travellers notebooks. They are filled with my life and my reactions and thoughts on events around me, also my growth. Your stories here remind me why I do it. I leave a little piece of me in each book. Stay safe my friend, these are crazy times we are living in
I love that you transitioned to the smaller notebooks and you're still telling your stories. It's nice when we can figure out a new format that works for the season we're currently in! Proud of you for sticking with it <3
I deeply appreciate your call for stories big and small, in sunny moments as well as the everyday and struggling ones. The spectrum of life! For so long I thought my daily experiences were too boring to capture, but I'm learning that the quiet story offers another point of view and is just as valid and valuable as the adventure, holiday and vacation story.
"Your everyday life matters—and documenting it is one way we push back against systems that try to silence us." Yes!! Our library just curated a new exhibit, "Making our Mark," to highlight how queer communities are using poetry and art to ensure they are not erased and to claim/control their own narratives. You can read an interview with the curator here: https://library.ucdavis.edu/news/the-inspiration-behind-the-exhibit-how-queer-communities-shape-visual-art-and-culture/
What a great read! Thank you so much for sharing. I'm so glad that you're here and telling your daily stories. They're so worth it and you make such beautiful art with them.
