Wrapping Up the Week with Ease
Keeping things colorful and simple for this Friday
Behind the Page
I’m headed out to see Andrew Bird at the Meijer Gardens amphitheater tonight. Live music is the best — especially when you get to pack a whole picnic and enjoy the outdoors at the same time. I’m excited to get out and take some fun pictures to add to my chronological scrapbook.
With that preoccupying my mind, I wanted to make something super simple today. So I grabbed one of the gel prints (this is actually just a brayer clean off page) and cut it down to size.
Technique of the Day
I stuck down this sticker over on the left side, and it felt a little lost — like there was nothing grounding it to the page. So I grabbed a thin permanent marker (my favorites are from Deli) and just traced a black line around the sticker.
Sometimes with permanent markers on paint, your marker stops working for a bit. It’s not dried out, it just needs to be worked out on some non-painted paper. So grab a sheet of whatever scrap paper you’ve got lying around, and just doodle until the full flow starts up again.
Reflections & Insights
I hope you’re having a great start to August and enjoying the last few days of the Olympics. I’m excited for the weather to start cooling down, so I can spend more time in my studio working on some exciting new things and bringing them to you. <3
