Why Your Multi-Passionate Type-A Mind Needs a Daily Feminist Scrapbooking Habit
Tell your stories in 5 minutes a day.
You are a person who cares about a lot of things. I get it. It can be hard to nail down a time to do and read and learn about all the things that matter and that you're interested in.
But, as a person who cares about a lot of different things -- telling the story of who you are and the world around you -- matters a lot. This is why documenting your life (aka scrapbooking) in small and simple notebooks is the best daily creative habit for your life.
You need to curate things from different sources.
The one book to rule them all (haha joking -- or am I?). When you're someone who cares about all the things, having a place to document them is essential. Creating a habit where you spend time in a small notebook each day gives you the space to reflect on different things that matter to you. No matter how big or small.
Today's page might have a Roxanne Gay quote or Lizzo lyrics and tomorrow's page could have the stickers that you got in your most recent Etsy order.
You need a reminder to shut off perfectionism:
There is no room for perfection in a daily creative habit. If you demand perfection you will fail. A reminder that scrapbook = scraps + book and scraps are already imperfect.
This is a space in your life free from the need for 100%, A+, or gold stars. If you're feeling that you really need those gold stars? Go out and get some for your pages.
You're great at homework, especially the creative kind:
Let's be honest, you've always been awesome at homework -- and I'm guessing that you did especially well when you could add a little bit of creativity to it. Posterboard? Markers?.
Crafting your daily creative habit is the same thing, except you're in charge now. There is no such thing as too many stickers, or only having to write in blue or black pen. You show up, create a page, & start again tomorrow.
I hope that you'll try daily scrapbooking as your own creative habit.
