When in Doubt -- Song Lyrics
A great way to get other people's words in your project
Day # 10 Behind the Page
I needed a win today. Something simple, easy, and getting back to my goals for this project. One of the things that I decided that I wanted was to use up all the pretty scraps of Christmas paper I’ve got lying around.
My headaches have been annoying the last few days. Not the worst pain-wise, but it’s messing with my ability to think competently and make good creative decisions this week. We’re getting some snow tomorrow, so hopefully things will be a little bit better after that. I’ve got a bunch of stories that I want to tell in this album, and I just don’t have the brain space to make them happen just yet.
I might go back and add some stories (pictures and words) on a few of my more art journal style pages…but also, we’ll see what the rest of the month brings.
Technique of the Day
I grabbed an old-school paper punch, heart shaped, and went through all my scrap paper to pick out some pretty patterns to go together. I leaned heavily on red and green, but there’s also a bit of gold in there too.
I didn’t have a specific thing I wanted to journal about today, so I decided to grab some Christmas song lyrics that I’ve got on vellum strips. I’m a huge fan of strip journaling in general, so I really like how it worked on today’s page when I didn’t feel like coming up with something original to say. Song lyrics ftw.
For those of you unfamiliar with December Daily Pages, it’s a mix of two creative traditions I love: Ali Edwards’ December Daily, a holiday storytelling project, and my own Daily Pages routine, a creative habit I’ve practiced since 2018. By blending these approaches, I’ve found a way to balance holiday cheer with the everyday joys of scrapbooking and storytelling.
Share your pages (and find inspiration!) in the Awesome Ladies Project app. I’ll be posting my pages there throughout the month.

Tips & Creative Wisdom
Turn to Song Lyrics for Journaling Inspiration
When journaling feels like a struggle, song lyrics are a great way to add meaningful words to your page. Vellum strips, stickers, or handwritten phrases are all great, both visually and emotionally, tying the page together with minimal effort.
Pro Tip: Keep a list of favorite lyrics or quotes handy for days when you need quick journaling inspiration. How does adding lyrics create a more personal connection to your page?
