Behind the Page

We watched Hacks as soon as we got up this morning — I didn’t want any spoilers at all — and I’m so glad we did. This season has been so great. I set the bar pretty high at the beginning of the season, I was a little nervous that it wasn’t going to be able to stand up to the previous two seasons (also incredible). But I loved this episode, and I love where they’re taking this show next season.

If you haven’t seen Hacks (or you haven’t caught up on the latest season) I implore you to put it on your list right away. It’s so funny and so heartfelt. And I absolutely love seeing a show about multi-generational women and their relationships.

Technique of the Day

I wanted to play around with some watercolors today, so I started out by stamping these medical illustrations of a human heart, and then used a few different colors of watercolors to give them a solid color wash. I wasn’t looking for perfection, just to have a good time.

I used the permanent StazOn ink so that I wouldn’t have to worry about drying time or smudging at all.

Reflections & Insights

I finished up my page with some minimalist Thursday3 journaling.

  1. Hacks is amazing (see above).

  2. Our local Chinese food place is closing tomorrow, our friend the owner is retiring and heading out to be closer to family. We went in last night and had an amazing meal while all the local Chinese folks came in to play some pretty serious Mahjongg. It was a great last meal there.

  3. Our plants are looking amazing! I’ll have an update pic soon — but I think we’re going to have a great crop of tomatoes this year, and hopefully some really interesting peppers as well.
