Week in the Life | Wednesday
Week in the Life is a week-long documentation project dreamed up and realized by the inspirational life-documenting goddess Ali Edwards. I've played along with this project for the past several years, you can see my albums from 2013, 2014, here on the blog, or check out highlights from both albums featured this past summer on the Ali Edwards blog. Over the next week I'll be sharing my photos and words from the previous day. I'm doing a lot of sharing on instagram, but not every photograph I take makes for a great IG post. So check back each day for updates on what my life here in East Lansing, Michigan looks like in the year 2015.

Wednesday was a totally average day. If I were asked 'what does a normal day look like for you?' if would look a lot like Wednesday. There was a little bit of not feeling well, a lot of work, a lot of food, and a whole bunch of staying in the house (and backyard) all day.
I came out onto the couch after getting out of bed this morning. I was up super late Tuesday night with a tummyache and instead of sleeping in, I opted to come and lay out on the couch and get some reading done.

Most of my wardrobe is sitting in this basket of not-as-freshly washed clothes from before our weekend trip. I did a great job of getting all the laundry washed, dried, and folded before we went away -- but the putting it away part is eluding me for now.

Lunch was Trader Joe's Organic Shells & Cheese and some kale chips that Jeff made on Tuesday night. I keep a bunch of TJ's stuff in the pantry for food emergencies. Making sure that I eat actual food throughout the day is key to having productive time, and because I was on the couch for a while this morning I really wanted something quick and easy that wouldn't exacerbate any issues and let me get back to my day.

I spent a good chunk of the afternoon in my studio at my standing desk. I organized my stamp/washi tape drawer (so overdue) and started putting together my small-format Project Life album for the summer months.

It was a tank top and leggings kind of day (it usually is).

J and I spent a lot of time outside in the evening. We watered all of the plants. He picked blackberries, I picked broccoli.

'Oh, it's not a twist off'. My bottle opener of choice is this upcycled antique spoon that my sister gave me a few years ago. When it's not in use it lives on the wall in my kitchen, so its readily accessible to all.

We spent the rest of the evening in the kitchen. I flash froze the broccoli I picked earlier in the day. Broccoli cheddar soup (the highest order to which broccoli can aspire) is definitely on the winter soups agenda.

Tomatoes. From the CSA. Tonight we start the canning process. These will eventually become jars of marinara sauce for my little Jersey girl heart to consume in the cold winter months when I'm feeling especially homesick. I'm super excited to pair it up with the NJ local sausage I have in my chest freezer that my sister brought to me last month.

This boy was on milling and sale chip eating duty.

He was also in charge of reading twitter out loud to me so that we could laugh at all the people.

Also dinner. I had to make that too. We had pork fajitas. I really wanted fajitas, we had amazing peppers and onions from the CSA that needed to be used, but alas, we did not have enough chicken. So I cut up a the bone-in pork chops that we did have, and used the meat for fajitas and the bones to make pork stock.
PS -- How is your week going? What steps are you taking to document this week? Are you doing anything differently than normal?
