Behind the Page

I’ve got a crazy migraine today, so I needed something that used limited mental energy. I played around with some guilding foil and made a few background pages for me to use in next month’s December Daily Pages album.

Technique of the Day

These are the scraps left over from the prints I created for my December Daily album. Since my DD album is going to be 4x6”, I trimmed the pages down to 8x6” (enough for two pages) and kept the scraps for today’s page.

Tips & Creative Wisdom

Make Backgrounds for Future Projects

Use your Daily Pages/creative time to create background pages that can be incorporated into larger works later. Paint washes, textured layers, or simple patterns are a great way to work your creative muscles and get some stuff done while laying the groundwork for your future projects. Plus, they give you a head start when you need supplies for a bigger notebook/album in the future.

Pro Tip: Keep your backgrounds simple and versatile, so they can fit into a variety of themes later. How does creating these foundations make bigger projects feel less overwhelming for you?
