Two Pages on a Tuesday
A rare two page day today. See how they came together.
Behind the Page
Like so many of the past few days of Daily Pages, I got to my desk and I had no idea what I wanted to do today. I strolled over to the huge magazine rack where I keep my paper, and grabbed an old Flow magazine. I flipped through it until I found a pretty sentiment, ripped it out and went from there. I added a few different shades of purple paint and used my tiny brayer to create the ombre look.
That page (top) came together so quickly, and I loved the simplicity of it, that I wanted to just create another page today. For the second page, I grabbed a solid color gel print that I made over the weekend and used some of my favorite foam stamps with more acrylic paint to create a little city scape.
Reflections & Insights
Right now I’m absolutely in my acrylic paint era. We’ve had the solid color washi era, the repeating stamped background era (to which I will always willingly return), and so much more. But right now, I’m having so much fun playing around with the different kinds of acrylic paints, seeing which colors I love (florescent pink and florescent orange are getting a lot of play right now), and trying out different techniques.
Most of the time I’m playing around on the gel plate and creating monoprints, but I’m also having a good time just scraping paint around (like in the first page for today), and figuring out which colors I like together.

Tips & Creative Wisdom
Lean into whatever your current era is — have fun, let yourself be a beginner (and then an intermediate) learner and enjoy figuring stuff out for yourself. Of course, I still want to encourage you to go out and find tutorials, and inspiration — but I want you to do while searching for the type of art that makes you happy and fuels your creativity.
PS — yay Tim Walz. Go midwest (and progressive values)! I’ll be putting together some voting stickers for this fall, be on the lookout for those in the new ALP shop.
