Behind the Page

It’s been a week. Lots of emotions, lots of overwhelm — both about world stuff and personal stuff. If you saw my page for Wednesday, it was all about how it’s time to make art. To make that page, I took some tissue paper, added it to some roll adhesive, and stenciled the words. Yesterday, I took some of the leftover tissue paper and used it to make my Thursday3 numbers.

Today I decided that I wanted to take a couple of minutes and make myself some more self-adhesive tissue paper (details below). Now I’ve got a whole stack of different colored tissue paper rectangles that I can use whenever I want. I don’t have to pull out the whole stack of tissue paper, find the color I want, get it on the adhesive — instead I can just grab a sheet and go.

I think I’m going to be doing a lot of bright colors and different shapes over the next few weeks. It’s something that, visually, makes me very happy. I’m going to encourage you to make with your favorite supplies as well — whatever makes you happy when you look at it.

Technique of the Day

You can watch in the video below how I get all the tissue paper onto the adhesive. Basically, I cut 4” wide strips of tissue paper, and then laid it down onto the scrapbook.com roll adhesive. It honestly couldn’t be easier. I overlapped the sheets just a bit in a few places, and that’s how I got the cool bits you can see above.

Tips & Creative Wisdom

Make DIY Stickers or Decals

Get some pretty paper, and then draw or stamp designs onto either sticker paper or use a roll adhesive to DIY it. This can make things a lot easier to get into your favorite techniques when you’ve got some roadblocks going on. They’re like your own mini artwork collection, ready to go when you need it.

Pro Tip: Try simple shapes or mini-phrases for easy, versatile stickers. How does adding a touch of your own artwork make each page feel more personal?
