*No Daily Pages Archive post today, I’ve got a bad cold and I took a sick day. But here’s a little something about my Thursday3 selfie challenge.
Over a decade and a half ago, I started taking a weekly selfie and writing down three right-now facts about my life. It was the last semester of college, and I realized I had I wanted a record of me, in my real life, as it was unfolding.
So I made it a weekly practice: one photo, three facts, every Thursday.
What started as a way to get more of myself into my scrapbooks became a ritual, a way to check in with myself and document my life as it was happening. Over the years, Thursday3 has been a constant—through moves, big life changes, illnesses, new projects, and everything in between. The format has stayed the same, but the way I share it has shifted.
For years, it lived on Instagram but these days, but these days, I’m just not organically over on social media much. So now, after a year of mostly just taking selfies, putting them on my phone, and doing some journaling in my Daily pages, I’m bringing Thursday3 to Substack—because the core of this project has never been about where to share these photos. It’s about taking a moment each week to show up, acknowledge my life, and create a little time capsule of now.
Here’s my share from today (same snap as above):
If you want to join in, it’s simple:
📷 Snap a selfie
📝 Write down three right-now facts about your life
📢 Share it wherever feels right for you
Whether you do it privately or share it with a friend, it’s a small but powerful way to remind yourself: your story matters, your face deserves to be seen, and your everyday life is worth documenting.
xoxo,
Kristin
