The secret to a successful 2014. Intend. Don't Resolve.
Just Say No to Resolutions.
I don't believe in resolutions.
How can I resolve to do anything for an entire year when I really have no idea what type of changes life has in store?
Intentions. Now that's more my speed. I like the idea of intentions. Things I intend to do -- things I want to focus on in my life right now -- if life changes, and these things are no longer a priority, then its not a failure.
Life is better when you intend for action instead of resolve for an end result. That whole seeing the trees from the forest quote comes to mind.
When we look at things as intentions we view our own actions as we are doing them and learn from the process. When we set resolutions, we lose sight of the process and focus blindly on the goal.
We learn from doing, so this year I want to focus on what I'm doing, not what I want to have done.
My 2014 list of intentions
not be ashamed of happiness
embrace joy
tell my story
be in love
nurture the good things in my life
slow down each day
rest during rest time
drink water all the time
eat meals at regular intervals
sleep to the best of my ability
only keep things I know to be useful or beautiful
have a schedule, so that when I don't have something specific to do, I have something specific I can be doing.
scrapbook the way I want to
believe in the ability of others
put all of myself into my obligations and let my passions flow through them.
read from a book every day
visit more states
write a story
I'll be looking at my intentions this year through the lens of my One Little Word: Heroine. 2014 will be the year that I embrace the fact that I am the hero of my own story, and that's pretty damned cool. I'll be sharing more of my own One Little Word journey next week.
