Thanks so much to everyone who joined me and
live this week! Whether you were there live or catching up now, I’m so glad we got to share space and talk about the messy, joyful, and human side of creativity.I just want to say—this one felt really special. We covered a lot of ground: creative habits, supply overwhelm, perfectionism, messy rooms, and what it actually looks like to make stuff in real life.
Here are a few of my favorite things from the convo—all the things, I’m still thinking enough about to write down here:
The truth about showing up
We talked about how easy it is to let life get in the way of your practice—and how powerful it can be to keep showing up anyway.
“If I used not feeling well as an excuse not to show up, then I wouldn’t show up.”
“Sometimes it’s gonna suck. That’s okay. My goal is just to show up and make something.”
That’s the root of my Daily Pages. Not perfection. Just presence.
Creative freedom = a safe place to play
We both shared how important it is to have a low-stakes creative space—something that’s yours, not for performance or perfection.
“That’s why I have these little notebooks. That is my place to play or practice.”
“If I use the new stamp right away, it stops being intimidating. Then I actually use it.”
Give yourself that space. The supplies aren’t too precious. Neither is the page.
Mansi on making + letting go
Mansi shared that she doesn’t keep most of her art anymore. She gives it away. That hit me hard—in the best way.
“I don’t keep my art... I started handing it out and felt such a sense of liberation.”
“People stop themselves from starting. And then we hide behind these things like, ‘Oh, but you’re so talented.’”
Nope. Not talent. Just courage to begin and the freedom to release.
I’d love to know what part resonated with you—or what messy, beautiful thing you’ve been working on lately. Just hit reply and tell me.
Thank you
