You can start scrapbooking today with just 5 simple supplies.
And if you’ve been scrapbooking for a long time and have a million supplies and minimal mojo — grabbing these five supplies and will make it a breeze to get back into the creative saddle.
You probably already have most of them. And if not, you can pick them up wherever you like to shop -- big box craft store, online shops, big or small.
All of these supplies are very easy to get different varieties of — so find the ones that work best for you, and don’t worry if you don’t love the trendy options. It’s more important to figure out what works for you and stick to that.
Here's what you need:
Scissors
To get started -- use whatever scissors you've got.
It doesn't matter how big or small they are. You're looking for a pair that's going to cut paper, pictures, and maybe other stuff. Don't overthink this.
Grab whatever you've got.
Black Pen
Use your favorite pen.
You will journal more. You will like your handwriting more. Everything will be leveled-up if you use your favorite pen.
Buy an extra if you need to replace it.
Adhesive
A big part of scrapbooking is sticking -- so you need adhesive.
Get a wet adhesive (glue) and a dry adhesive (tape runner, double-sided tape, adhesive tabs). Use the dry adhesive more. Too much wet adhesive will make your pages warp.
Try out different adhesives until you find the ones you like in your scrapbook.
Notebook/Album
You need the book to scrap'book'.
You can get a fancy scrapbook album with page protectors. It'll keep your pages looking great forever. You can use any notebook and start scrapping right inside the pages. And pretty much anything in between.
I scrapbook my Daily Pages in a small notebook. It's a great place to start.
Scraps
So what counts as scraps for your scrapbook?
Pictures, pretty paper, memes, stickers, washi tape, and more. To get started, grab some of whatever you have around, consider your mail, stuff you can print, fun office supplies, and the bits of life you pick up.
Overwhelmed? Start with pictures, then add pretty paper.
The only other thing you need to start feminist scrapbooking is your stories and a feminist lens. Not sure how to find your own feminist lens?
Answer this question: As a feminist, how do you see your story/stories? And then see where your answer takes you and follow that path.
Feminist Scrapbooking is a reminder that you don't need fancy tools, trendy supplies, or expensive anything to scrapbook the stories of your life.
