Textures + Colors = Love
So into the way these textures are showing up on my gel prints.
Behind the Page
As my reward for hosting such an amazing ALL event — I got myself some new paints and paper from Blick. They should be here later today, but I got so excited thinking about them, that I needed to pull out my gel plate and some of the paints I’ve already got and get playing around.
I added a tag with Thursday3 style journaling on it — documenting a few things that are feeling important right now, and called it a day. I can’t wait to get my new supplies — I promise to tell you all about them soon!
Technique of the Day
I started off with some yellow paint, and pulled most of it off with a textured rubber stamp. If you zoom in, you can see some of that texture, and a little bit of that yellow. I’m loving playing around with the different layers of gel printing, and I can’t wait to try out some of the new paints I got from Blick this weekend.
Reflections & Insights
We’ve talked a ton about how great Awesome Ladies Live was, so you’ve heard all about that already. But we haven’t talked about how amazing the Olympics are? These are absolutely my favorite Olympics since Beijing and I’m loving how easy it is to watch all the weird and interesting sports. Sport Climbing? Triathalon? Field Hockey? Skateboarding? It’s all so awesome.
I loved watching the US Women win a fencing team gold. The US Beach Volleyball team had an amazing win after a long weather delay (LeBron was one of the only spectators left when then finally won after midnight). And gymnastics — what else is there to even say?

Tips & Creative Wisdom
I love picking a set amount of colors when I’m gel printing. I pick out 3-5 paints and create a bunch of different combinations with those colors. Limiting my colors gives me the opportunity to spend my mental energy on other decisions like patterns, stencils, and layering.
