Behind the Page

I love today’s page. It just makes me so friggin’ happy. Like many days, I had no idea what I wanted to do when I got to my desk today. I was speaking on a panel today, so I cleaned off my desk and made it as pretty as I could, which left me no real breadcrumbs to pick up and create with.

So I grabbed the small box of thin paper scraps and decided today would be a strip day. And to make it even more fun, I decided that we were gonna go rainbow. I added in this great little Brandi Kincaid quote to bring the whole thing together.

Technique of the Day

Creating today’s rainbow was super fun. First thing I did was go through my thin scraps to find papers that wouldn’t need much trimming or that I could use without cutting down at all. I found some great scraps, but I didn’t have some of the shades that I was looking for, so I grabbed my slightly larger scraps and pulled out some papers in shades that worked for the project.

After I picked out all the papers, I divided them up into warm colors (left page) and cool colors (right page). That made it easier to pick out the colors, decide how wide things were going to be, and just get it down onto the page. After the warm colors, I did the cool colors. If you watch the video, you’ll see I experimented with a few other papers before paring it back down to these. I love the minimalist look with the quote.
