Technique Challenge: Selfies
Technique Challenge: Selfies
This week's challenge is to incorporate selfies into your project.
Selfies are a great tool to add to your visual storytelling arsenal. Selfies are one of my favorite ways to document my life; they're easy to take, they're representative of what my life looks like right now, and I can choose to manipulate them however I want so that I can best tell my story.

I really like taking selfies, they are a great way to capture the moment. We have been doing selfies for years, even before cellphones. It is so much better now lol. This week's prompt was right up my alley, since I like taking selfies, I had a road trip with great friends, and selfies I could use. It also got me going on making this project as I have never thought of doing a layout with selfies before.

I took a selfie with a Polaroid camera so it would be fun and easy! A selfie is a great way to introduce yourself to a new penpal.

Usually I'm not wearing any makeup, I'm in my bathing suit by the pool, or I think I look fat. It's the truth. So usually my selfies are made up of feet photos.. LOL or other photos of me in and around our pool deck. We love our new home!

It is super important to me to include images of myself in my projects. They are a part of my story right now that I want to tell, both for the process of it and because I know I will want to look back on it later. There isn’t anyone better-suited to tell my story but me, so I will keep on selfie-ing.

I'm a fan of selfies because a Mom to 2 boys with a spouse who is away a lot, sometimes that's the only way I'll ever be part of my family's documented story! I used this challenge as a chance to fill in the backs of a couple pocket pages in my "All About Me" album and to tell some little but important stories about myself and my people!!

Most of them are taken in a car or other form of transportation. I'm sure there's some symbolism in that but since I'm always on the go, my "quiet moments" are often in the car. It's a prime selfie-snappin' place!

For my take on the selfie challenge, I wanted to pay tribute to all things ginger. I snapped these selfies before work one day, on a particularly good hair day! This spread also tells a story about my love of autumn and watching nature turn beautiful shades of red and orange around me

I took a kind of "interesting" approach to the selfie. NOT a hater! Just a more art-journal-y idea. I tried to print onto neon card stock but my ancient low-res laser printer couldn't handle card stock. (In process of getting new printer!). I'm actually pretty happy with the spread, because I still think it totally looks like me!
