Technique Challenge: Stamping
Technique challenge: Stamping
This week's challenge is to incorporate stamping into your project.
Stamps are a great tool to add to your visual storytelling arsenal. Stamps are one of my absolute favorite supplies on the planet; they're portable, they're reusable, they're easy to use, and they work with whatever style you're into.

My Challenge Project
On this spread I started out by stamping out a repeating background on my cardstock base (I wrote a tutorial on how to do this in yesterday's blog post). I split a 4x6 photo of J and I (at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park this summer) down the middle and put the half with me on the left hand side and the half with him on the right hand side.
The bright color of his tshirt gave me the courage to go big bold and neon for this spread. After layering some patterned paper and washi tape, I finished up with a stamped and handwritten title down on the right side.

Awesome Ladies Project Creative Team Projects
For this Technique Challenge... I went simple. Lately, I've been struggling a bit with leg pain, and haven't been as creating as much as I'd like. So for this challenge, I kept it simple. Really simple. And that's OK. I was thinking of some of the 'mean girls' I've come across in the creative community, pulled out these stamps, and made 2 little gift bags, maybe I'll fill them with some coal this year?
I started my project with a big photo and then freehand cut some circles to act as journaling spots. I then stamped a subtle pattern on them (the stamp I used is actually a Christmas tree stamp). Numbers stamped in black ink over the pattern gave me an places to write down six random things that are happening now. I finished off the project with some stitching and sequins (I can never have enough of either).
This challenge was very hard for me. I have a limited amount of stamps and almost 0 ability to use them. I had this madala I wanted to mount in my #onelittleword binder and figured I would use stamps from that kit. I also used some word stamps from @studiocalco to create a currently list. And a quote.
As the days get shorter and I start to freak out about the coming snow and cold, I wanted to remind myself of all the things I love about this time of year. I'll use this stamped card in a project life layout, alongside photos of things making me happy this autumn.
I'm not an avid stamper, but I do love alphabet stamps! Here I custom designed a background paper by stamping off my son's first initial. I reused the same stamp set to stamp his name, then dry embossed the paper before fussy cutting the individual letters. I also stamped and heat embossed the heart and a random text stamp on the tag.
For this week's stamping challenge, I chose to focus on Bible journaling and was inspired by the awesome Shanna Noel from Illustrated Faith. I liked the focus on being fearless in serving others because I felt it was a message that anyone can relate to. I chose the cell phone and thumbs up "like" stamps because I feel that particularly my generation of millennials can become impassioned for causes but are more likely to be social media activists. The message on the screen challenges people to do more than what's seen on the [screen's] surface. At first I didn't like how messy the acrylic was getting but like isn't perfect and often incredibly messy so I let the page figure itself out :)
