rukristin's Roundup: December 9th, 2023
Creating is so much fun -- come see December Daily Pages 1-6!
I am having a blast putting together my December Daily Pages album. The planning that I did for this project has really paid off. Even though honestly, we haven’t had anything all that interesting (and nothing holiday related) happen so far this month.
I realized as I was making my TV page, that I’m so much more comfortable telling introspective stories and no-photo stories in this smaller mixed-media format than I am the larger albums.
So much of this is due to my relationship with Daily Pages. Having this practice lets me explore and experiment in a safe environment. It’s also really great to have the accountability of being on camera and doing it live every M-F at Noon.

I need your opinions!
One more thing! I need your opinions!! In March, we’ll be releasing a new course called 30 Days of Daily Pages: Women’s History Month Edition. This class is all about exploring, appreciating, and documenting our lives by drawing inspiration from our favorite historical and contemporary women.
We need your unique input! We want this class to resonate with you, and to feature the women who inspire you the most. Whether they're trailblazers in arts, pioneers in science, legends in literature, champions in sports, or unsung heroes of our everyday lives, we want to hear about them.
How to Participate: Click the button below and you'll find a simple form where you can list your favorite feminists and female figures. Feel free to include a mix of well-known personalities and lesser-known but equally impactful women. Share as many as you like – we're aiming for a diverse and inspiring collection of 30 women to feature in our class.
This week’s [December] Daily Pages
Since I’m working on pages each day this month and not just Monday-Friday, I’ll be sharing them here in chronological order, not just by day. If you missed me chatting about this album the first time around, check out this post:
December Daily Pages: My Reason Why
December Daily Pages is here. For this year’s December project, I’m working in a DIY binder ring album. And today, I created my “reason why” page. The focal point is this fun felt semi-circle stitched pocket.
December Daily Pages 12/01/23: Done Shopping Die Cut + Color
I finished all my Christmas shopping today! I wanted to mark the occasion and celebrate in my December Daily Pages book. My first thought was to play around with some paper that looked like wrapped presents, but then I decided I’ll use those supplies for when I’m actually wrapping the presents.
December Daily Pages 12/02/23: Packaging + A Picture
On Saturday, we cracked open this box of LEGOs and put together this amazing succulent arrangement. Jeff cut up the box for me as we were sorting the pieces, and I knew it would make a perfect background paper for today’s page.
December Daily Pages 12/03/23: Currently List + Wooden Stars
For today’s page, I did a simple Currently List on this adorable HoHoHo paper from last year’s December Daily collection. It wasn’t a hugely eventful day, we did some cleaning, watched football, organized the Christmas stuff a bit. Nothing that really stood out, so it was a perfect day for a Currently List!
December Daily Pages 12/04/23: Interactive Excitement
Each month we have a Daily Pages Challenge theme over at the ALP, and this month is all about stamps for today’s page I pulled out my new Ali Edwards December Daily sets and started to play around with some very non-traditional Christmas colors.
December Daily Pages 12/05/23: TV Tuesday (also interactive)!
Today’s page started out with a gelli print paper I made a few weeks back. This book has more techniques and dimensional elements than my usual Daily Pages notebooks, and that includes all these mixed media papers I premade. I used a set of these pages today as the base for this interactive TV spread.
December Daily Pages 12/06/23: DIY Paper Wreath Photo Frame
A simple 3 things about right now page (my go to page on Thursdays — even though this is page is technically documenting a Wednesday). I got around to making this patterned paper wreath, which I first saw in the Ali Edwards December Daily Try This Product Play class.
December Daily Pages 12/07/23: Home Cooking + Baked Ziti Recipe
One of my favorite pages in this album so far — this one has a couple of interactive elements that make it makes it so much fun to play with. On the left side I’ve got a tiny mini-album stuck on the page with pictures of my chopped vegetables and a list of ingredients. On the right side here’s a waterfall with the different steps of the recipe.
Tip of the Week
Creative supplies are everywhere. This gorgeous box from the LEGO set we put together is beautifully designed. Instead of chucking it in the bin, I used it as the background paper for this page about the LEGO story.
I like to keep all my bits of life (especially the larger ones) in a box that I can easily flip through. Sometimes it’s pieces for a specific story (like this one), and sometimes its pretty things that come in the mail or I found in a magazine. Keeping all the bits together makes me much more likely to actually use them in my projects.
