One of the most frequent requests I get is for feminist book recommendations. A few years back I put out a list of a bunch of formative feminist essays that I think are critical to the landscape of feminist scholarship.

I've been wanting to update the list for a while now, with books that are a little bit more accessible. Both in the physical sense (hence the Amazon list with books that ship via Prime) and the metaphorical sense (most of these texts are easier to read and understand than the previous list of essays).

I've taken the time to put together a few of my favorite feminist scholarly texts.

This is a list of critical feminist theory texts. These are mostly books I read in college, as I was getting my undergrad degree in women's & gender studies.

A lot of these texts are going to be dense and difficult to read, but are totally worth it. So get out your highlighters and post its, and dive into some Judith Butler, Drucilla Cornell, and books filled with essays that you can break down all on your own.

Some of the texts listed are a little bit expensive as new books on Amazon, so I definitely encourage you to purchase used copies or check out your local library (or search the internet) for texts that are interesting to you.
