Reviving Thursday3 in a New Creative Space
Bringing back a favorite habit, embracing collage, and making space for creative play
Behind the Page
I talked a bit today on Substack Notes (the substack version of social media) about the origins of Thursday3, and how I have not done a great job of taking my Thursday3 selfies over the last year—mostly because I just hated going on Instagram to share. So, while I’ve got a bunch of random selfies on my phone from last year, I don’t have the number of pictures that I’m used to.
I said to myself that I wanted to at least be taking the pictures, even if I wasn’t sharing them, every Thursday. Then I realized, that I could be sharing here on Substack, since that’s where I’ve been spending most of my ‘work community’ time lately. So if you’ve been missing my Thursday3s (or missing your own!) — you can see mine over here on Thursdays.
Technique of the Day
For today’s page, I really just wanted to play around with little bits and arrange them on the page. There’s something super soothing about putting all the pretty things down in a way that makes them more then the sum of their parts.
I’ll added in my Thursday3 journaling on this bit of vellum — I really love how it turned out, both the journaling and the page itself. I had a ton of fun doing some monochromatic collage last year during color month and I think I could use a bit more of that fun this winter. It’ll also give me an excellent excuse to go through all my bits and declutter my supplies.

Tips & Creative Wisdom
Make Your Creative Challenges Work for You
If a creative habit isn’t working the way it used to, it’s okay to shift where and how you engage with it. Moving Thursday3 to Substack instead of Instagram is a great example of adapting a challenge to fit your current creative space and energy.
Pro Tip: If you're feeling resistance to a routine, ask yourself if there's a different format, supply, version that might make it feel fresh and exciting again.
