Project Life 2014: Spring
This is my story.
I love documenting my everyday life; here's how I'm doing it in 2014.
This is my 'right-now' scrapbook. For the past few years I've been documenting my everyday life using a modified version of Becky Higgins' Project Life memory-keeping system. My goal for this project is to document the important (to me) stories and photos in one place. My format is open-ended, I have no plans for a specific amount of pages, in chronological order. To house my Project Life for 2014, I'll be using a 6x8 album with various page protectors.
Oh March. How I was putting you off, and putting you off, and putting you off. I finally just sat down one night with my Studio Calico Bluegrass Farm kit, my March groovebook, some notes and busted it out -- it felt great and I love these pages. I had such a good time that I'm itching for some more and I'll probably work on April's pages during tomorrow's National Scrapbooking Day festivities.

March - Not My Day
Moment: The beginning of March was still pretty lousy. We were preparing to go out to Michigan and look at houses, and the weather was awful, and it really just felt like everything was coming down in buckets.
Favorite Part: The color combo. Because this spread is a glorified calendar I thought it would be fun to stick with a primary color palette. Red, yellow, and blue make up the majority of the spread, with a multi-color journaling card up in the corner to pull it all together.
Tip: Add a couple of calendars to a monthly overview page. Calender sticker, calendar card, calendar die cut -- go for it. I'm a big fan of repeating a theme or a motif throughout a spread.
Supplies: Studio Calico Bluegrass Farm Project Life Kit, 3 Pocket Page Protector, Freckled Fawn Calendar Stickers

Eek! a House
Moment: I think the title says it all ;)
Favorite Part: The vellum envelope on the left page. It holds the other 324 photos I took of the house, as I couldn't narrow down which ones I wanted to show off in the album.
Tip: Illustrate a photo. Use arrows and point out the important parts. I used a Sharpie extra fine to draw on both the photos and the vellum envelope.
Supplies: Studio Calico Bluegrass Farm Project Life Kit, Scrapbook Kit, Vellum envelope, Studio Calico Kraft alphabet stickers, Sharpie Extra fine
Food Rules
Moment: A food themed spread -- on the left side a trip to Shake Shack and on the right side a trip to the grocery store and some rules I keep in mind when it comes to food.
Favorite Part: I love the photograph and the flair placed right in the middle.
Tip: Left or Right justify a square 4x4 photo on a 4x6 card and leave yourself a little room for journaling
Supplies: Studio Calico Bluegrass Farm Project Life Kit, Scrapbook Kit, Amy Tangerine Project Life Core Kit, Amy Tangerine Remarks Alphabet Stickers

Cousins Time & My First Tattoo
Moment: Hanging out with my cousin -- both at the NJ Devils game & when she took me to get my tattoo.
Favorite Part: the color of the cardstock on the full size page, and the way the today stamp looks at the top.
Tip: Tri-color pallettes are my favorite. It's perfect for both the pocket spread (red, white, and black) as well as the full page spread (teal, yellow amd green)
Supplies: Today stamp, Simple Stories DIY Boutique 6x6 Paper Pad, DIY Kraft Card Foundations, Snap Label Stickers, Snap Icon Stickers, Snap Clear Message Stickers, Amy Tangerine Baxter Alphabet Stickers
Album Supplies:
Studio Calico Handbook, 4 to a sheet Page Protectors, 3 to a sheet Page Protectors; Sakura Microperm pen, Tonic paper trimmer, Selphy cp900 photo printer.
FAQs
Each month I'll be answering and sharing questions about my approach to everyday scrapbooking and the modified Project LifeTM system that I'm using. Most of these questions come from instagram, facebook, and a few emails. If you have a question, please leave it in the comments below and I'll add it to next month's list. The complete list of Project Life FAQs can be seen here.
What happens when you use the front of a page protector, but then when you go to use the back, you want a different configuration? For instance, you have a 3-pocket page on the right to end February, but what if for March you want the left side opening page to be a 6x8 like the first page of February was? Is there a solution to that, or do you just go with whatever you have? - Laura
I think about it before I finish up the month actually -- this month I specifically ended with a 4x6 card because I have an awesome 4x6 title card for March that I want to use. So I'll at least plan my first spread for the next month when I'm ending my last spread for the current month.
How many pages do you make per month?
It totally depends. I have no set number of pages. For March, I made four spreads -- there wasn't all that much going on aside from our trip out to Michigan to look at houses. January had a lot more going on and a lot more pages to show for it; I have a feeling April and May are going to be the same.
What are your favorite supplies right now?
Right now I'm totally into the Simple Stories DIY and DIY Boutique line. It's super simple, it layers perfectly, and it coordinates with everything. I think my favorite thing are the clear stickers that I've been putting right on top of photos.
Where can I purchase the products that you use?
I keep an online shop where readers can purchase my most loved and used supplies and help support me in the process. Here are direct links to my Studio Calico Handbook, 4 to a sheet Page Protectors, 3 to a sheet Page Protectors. Most of the supplies that I use in my Project Life 2014 album will be in the shop. In addition to the supplies in my shop, I also use the OhDeerMe and Studio Calico kits.
