Behind the Page

There is so much imperfection on this page. And that’s gonna happen when your brain is fried and you don’t have much in the way of decision-making energy.

I’ve talked before about on my not-so-hot days, I tend to gravitate towards things that are easy for me to do, stuff I don’t need to think about too much. And a lot of the time, that winds up being a repeating stamped background.

So for today, I grabbed a stamp set I already had on my desk, and started filling up some cardstock with Brandi Kincade mushrooms. It was a great mindfulness exercise and helped get me through the afternoon.

Technique of the Day

When I finished up the black and white stamping (black ink, white cardstock), I knew that I wanted to add some color to those mushroom tops. My first thought was to use markers, but I didn’t find one that I thought would help me color in effectively. I then saw my tube watercolors, and decided that would be a fun route to go today.

Even though I don’t normally do a lot of wet media in my Daily Pages, I made an exception today, because it felt good. And I definitely pulled out my heat gun to make everything dry a little bit faster, but that felt good too.

Reflections & Insights

I originally put down the clear sticker first, right on the stamped background (you can see that in the video below). But then I realized that it was just blending in way too much. So I ripped it up, put another quote sticker on some cardstock and stuck that down instead. It works so much better now. I’m happy I made that change.
