Altered Book Mini-Album
I created this album last summer, made from an altered vintage book, using a couple of Studio Calico kits. I took out about half the pages and glued the rest together to create hard board-book like pages for the inside.
The Story
In January of 2014, J and I rented a Mustang and drove from Los Angeles to San Francisco along the Pacific Coast Highway. It was one of the best days of my life. The weather was incredible, the company was perfect, and the adventures were plentiful.
For this album, I picked out a couple of my favorite photos and spent most of the album journaling about what an amazing experience it was. I wasn't too concerned with facts or figures. I wanted to get the feelings down.
Inside Pages
For each of the inside pages, I used a 4x4 photograph on each two page spread. Throughout the book I left a lot of the vintage book paper showing through and added a lot of embellishment. While my traditional scrapbooking and my pocket pages are usually minimally styled, I love using lots of embellishments in mini-albums. They enhance any of the themes running through the album already and help to create a cohesive narrative. I find this to be especially true in altered-type mini-albums.
