Behind the Page

This weekend we’ve got a Daily Pages masterclass all about gel printing, so I’ve had gel prints on my mind all week. While I was flipping through my stamps the other day, I came across these older frame stamps. I pulled them out this morning along with my folder of gel prints and stamped out this cool DIY art gallery.

Technique of the Day

This technique centers around a frame stamp set. The one I used today was an older one from Ali Edwards, but you can use any frame stamp set you’ve got. Today, I used StazOn ink, so that I wouldn’t have to worry about drying time at all. It made it a lot easier to do all this stamping and cutting in my normal Daily Pages timeframe.

First, I stamped the frames. I found gel prints that were fairly solid in color and stamped two different frames (rectangular and square) on each of the prints. I cut them out, and put them off to the side.

Next, I went back through my gel prints and tried to find ones that felt a little more artsy. I took my frame stamp, and looked through the center as a viewfinder of sorts, and picked out spots on the print that looked like cool abstract art. This time, I cut out the center of the frame (just the art part), and glued those into my frames.

I finished up by arranging these in my notebook and sticking them down. I’m really happy with how it turned out, and I’ll definitely be doing something like this again.

Reflections & Insights

So glad that I used StazOn Ink for this project. There was zero drying time, and I used my StazOn re-inker to keep my ink pad super juicy the whole time. Even though I re-ink my StazOn every time I use the ink pad, I’ve gone 8+ years without needing to purchase an additional re-inker bottle. So be liberal with your re-inking.
