Today’s Color

Behind the Page

Leaves. Leaves are what I think of when I hear light green. It’s probably because the garden is full of leaves at the moment. All the tomatoes and peppers are growing well; but it’s the beans in the front of the house that are giving me all the life right now. I can’t wait to harvest and eat one of my favorite summer dishes — blistered green beans with charred tomatoes.

Technique of the Day

So, yesterday was staple day in this book, and I made that great flip out page. Unfortunately, today when I went to flip to the next page in my notebook, my middle popped out. So I grabbed a snug rubber band and put that around my book and then washi taped the page in on today’s side.

You can see the light green washi tape in the center. It’s connecting the back of yesterday’s page to the binding on today’s page. It’s a great way to reinforce the center of your notebook and make sure any pages that want to jump out will stay firmly in place.

Reflections & Insights

It’s crazy hot here. For the most part, I’m trying to hang out in the cool parts of my house (which is not where any of my creative supplies are). For my Daily Pages time I’m in a room that doesn’t have any air conditioning; which for most of the time doesn’t matter too much, but during this kind of heat, it sucks to be back there in my studio.

What is your creative area like this time of year?

Tips & Creative Wisdom

Go with the flow.

If you’re also experiencing this heat wave, give yourself the grace to create in a way that makes sense for the current climate. Don’t force yourself into routine just because it’s routine. It’s encouraged to make a creative space that works for you and the way that you create.
