Katie Scraps in her Summertime Mini-Album

The following is a guest post from rukristin Creative Team member Katie. Today Katie is sharing a summer scrapbook mini-album that she's been working on in the cool winter months.

The end of December is the normal/best time to post Summer-y scrapbook albums, right? I thought so.

I took so many photos on our epic road trip this Summer, and am still catching up (okay, so, I've barely started. Whatever.) on scrapbooking them.

This mini album is random in that it uses photos from all throughout our trip instead of just one place. I'm calling it the "phone photos" mini album, because it uses only pictures I took from my phone. Those photos tend to be more fun, and less "posed" or scenic than the ones I took with my dslr camera and I felt that they needed their own album. So here it is.

I used a neon pink 4x4 Instagram Album by We R Memory Keepers for my album base. It's extremely bright, but I love it. I decorated the cover with a little cluster of embellishments. I used the label stamp from the Basics Months clear stamp set for my album title and then added some word stickers, a lovely yellow camera, and a few yellow enamel dots to finish it off.

When making my pages, I start sort of "assembly line" style. I cut all the paper to the right sizes, and do all the first layers of paper/washi tape on all of the pages. For example on this particular mini album, I cut all my pages and then added washi tape to all of them, and then added photos to all of them and then embellished them, rather than working on just one page at a time.

For this album, I tried to stick with washi tape, stamps and enamel dots. I didn't do much in the way of journaling, but I know I'm going to be doing more albums and full sized layouts about this trip, so I'm not too worried about it.

One of my best tips for scrapbooking your travels is to really let your photos shine. Whenever I make trip mini albums, I usually (sometimes I fail at this) try to keep the embellishments pretty simple, so that I don't overwhelm my favorite photos.

I really enjoyed working on this album. It's so bright and happy, it was a nice break from all of the holiday themes going around (don't get me wrong, I love Christmas, but I needed some neons.).
