Behind the Page

Growing up, the night before Halloween was always called ‘Mischief Night’. It was the night of pranks (lots of silly string and toilet paper). I’m obviously not planning on going out and pulling any pranks tonight, but it was fun to create today’s page with these little ghosties—and in my story, they’re headed out for some spooky pranks tonight.

Technique of the Day

This is legit the only Halloween stamp set I own, and I wanted to make sure to use it at least once before the month was over. So today I glued down the background paper, and then found a coordinating color to make my ghosts. These might not be traditional Halloween colors, but they made me happy today—and honestly that’s all I was looking for.

Tips & Creative Wisdom

Capture the Mood of the Holiday

Use your Daily Pages to capture the overall vibe of the holiday. Is it warm and cozy? Bright and celebratory? Reflect that mood through colors, textures, and words. You don’t have to get super elaborate—sometimes just using colors that represent the holiday are absolutely perfect. It’s a fun way to invite the holiday spirit into your creative practice.

Pro Tip: Use colors that feel like the holiday to you—I personally love hot pink as a Halloween color. Thinking ahead, you can go for classic holiday colors or something totally unique—maybe a warm, golden palette for Thanksgiving or bold neon for New Year’s. What colors capture the holiday’s essence for you?
