It's Another Beautiful Day to Be Making Daily Pages
Channeling my inner Rogelio for Lavender day
Today’s Color
Behind the Page
Today’s page is an ode to one of my favorite characters on one of my favorite TV shows — Rogelio De La Vega from Jane the Virgin. Rogelio’s favorite color is lavender, and he makes sure that everyone knows it.
I knew that I needed to stamp my favorite Rogelio quote (and my own personal mantra when things are stressful) — Inhale, Exhale. It’s so much better when he says it, so I like to close my eyes and hear the words in his voice. It’s an excellent way to calm yourself down.
Technique of the Day
Outline and fill-in stamps are one of my favorite ways to make simple words really pop. It was even more fun to play around with a monochrome color palette and pull out all the different shades of purple.
I wound up not loving the background stamping I was doing, so I cut out my words and glued them into the book after flipping the book 90 degrees. I love the minimalist page and it’s great for my (ever expanding) notebook as I’m nearing the end of the book and I don’t actually need to add any more bulk than is necessary.
And I’ve still got a purple collage page to do and I think I want to do the same with black and white…Ah! I can’t believe we’re almost done with Color Month. It has been so satisfying to explore all the colors with you.
Reflections & Insights
Put fun and silly stuff in your Daily Pages books. This is the place to document all the little in-jokes and sayings that have a special meaning to you. You don’t need to provide any context, or tell a whole story. This is a place for you to play and explore — lean into the things that are already making you happy and document those.

Tips & Creative Wisdom
Don’t be afraid to cut something up and start from a new place. You’ll see in the video that I started stamping in the background of my lavender cardstock. The first ink that I used didn’t come out right, and then the second ink color just made everything feel too messy in a bad way. So I grabbed my scissors, cut out my words, and called it a day.
Just because you tried something that you didn’t like, or didn’t turn out the way you wanted, doesn’t mean you failed. It just means that you learned about something you don’t like or the wrong way to do something. It gives you an opportunity to learn and grow in your creativity when you can dig yourself out of a little art hole and come out on top.
