Behind the Page

I went and voted yesterday at our city’s early voting spot. They were so fantastic, the line moved so quickly, and we got the most amazing stickers (see below). Here in Michigan, we had a contest to create some new voting stickers — here are all the winners. I picked up a few of my favorites yesterday after dropping off my ballot.

Today’s page was just a quick background getting some of our election holiday in my notebook. I’ll have another voting page for tomorrow, and I like that they’re in the same notebook as all my halloween stuff.

Technique of the Day

This week’s Currently List:

Watching:

So much sports right now. We finished up watching the World Series (wow, the Yankees really wanted to lose that game), checking out the MLS playoffs (my NYRB made it into the second round), the League of Legends World Championships were amazing, and of course Football. I’ve also been watching a lot of YouTube cooking videos.

Reading:

I’ve got the ACOTAR series that I’ve been listening to on audiobook and reading along on my kindle when I want to understand something a little better.

Listening:

See above.

Making:

lol…still nothing. Just trying to rest and keep up with being human.

Feeling:

A little bit more congested again? The temperatures are so up and down that it’s messing with my head, which always screws with the rest of my immune system as well.

Planning:

The Awesome Ladies Project Virtual Scrapbook Festival! We kick off next Thursday at 7pm. Register for the festival here.

Loving:

That this election season is almost over! Hopefully you’ve already voted, if not — good luck voting tomorrow!

Tips & Creative Wisdom

Turn Off the Outside World

To make Daily Pages a real escape, put away distractions. Turn off your phone notifications (for those of us in swing states — the text messages are a little out of hand right now), play some calming music, or light an electric candle. Create an environment that lets you dive into your creative space fully. When you treat this time as sacred, it becomes easier to escape into your creativity and let the rest of the world fall away.

Pro Tip: Experiment with a playlist that sets the tone—maybe something calming or energizing, depending on your mood. How do the chill vibes affect your page?
