I Get By with a Little Help From My Friends
Isn't that the truth -- let's celebrate it.
Behind the Page
I’m still needing easy mode — especially since a bunch of my favorite supplies are still unpacked, in the stack of boxes from Awesome Ladies Live, sitting in my library nook. So I decided I would just stick with whatever I had on my desk and run with it.
I keep a stack of thin paper strips — most of them are from leftover stamping on a half sheet of 8.5”x11” paper (making it 8.5”x5.5”) and then trimming it down to fit in my notebook. Since my notebooks are 5.5” high and 7“ wide, I’m always left with nice little strips that are also 5.5” high. I stick them all in a little container, so it’s easy to make pages like this one.
Technique of the Day
When I’m pulling these little strips, the first thing that I think about is color palette — am I going warm colors or cool colors? Today I picked cool colors. So, the next thing that I care about is the distribution of white. I want to make sure that the strips that have white backgrounds are spaced apart from each other, which is where patterned paper or washi tape can be very useful. Next I see how the strips are gonna fit on the pages of the notebook, I’ll move things around until I get a pattern I like and then glue it all down.
It’s a great way to use scraps and a great way to pull in the little bits that you’ve already used in your notebooks. I love being able to use up the fun stamping that I did in a previous session elsewhere in my notebook.
