FAQ: How Do You Stamp Crisp and Clean Images?
FAQs & Insta-Questions.
Since starting to post many of my projects on instagram, I've also started getting used to answering a lot of project related questions over there. There are so many awesome conversations happening over there that I'll be highlighting some of the best and most frequently asked questions here on the blog.

Question: How do you stamp such crisp, clean images?
There are two parts to this answer. The first is supplies and the second is technique.
Supplies: My secret weapon for crisp clean stamping is VersaFine ink. The VersaFine Black Onyx is my go-to ink. I use it about 90% of the time. It provides the cleanest image of any ink I've ever tried.
Technique: A lot of smudging happens when the face of the stamp meets the base of the paper in a slanted motion. This can be avoided by stamping using an up and down motion. You want to stamp using a downward motion, applying even pressure throughout the stamp. Another thing to keep in mind -- clean your stamps in between uses, especially if you're using different colors of ink.
