Freckled Fawn in a Traveler's Notebook

Traveler's Notebooks are a great way to document your everyday life. I've been using them throughout 2017, and it's a great cross between traditional scrapbooking, smashbooking, and art journaling. I used several of the embellishments from the March Freckled Fawn kit in some of my recent Traveler's Notebook spreads. Here's how they turned out:

Let's Explore Winter Feelings

I've been using a Traveler's Notebook as my everyday documentation project for 2017. I've been creating double-page spreads for whatever everyday stories are calling to me.

With this spread, I document how winter is making me feel. February is the hardest month for me personally. It's always so cold, it still gets dark super early, and spring doesn't really seem to be in sight just yet.

I used my Polaroid Zip printer to print our a 2x3 photograph that I stuck down in the bottom left hand corner of the spread. I journaled next to the photo, and left the right side of my spread to hold the title.

Work Life

The washi tape in the March Freckled Fawn kit was a ton of fun. I absolutely love the bright orange and stripey/chevron pattern. For this spread, I used vertical strips of this month's washi to create a patterned background.

Because the tape was so fun and bright, I wanted to temper it down a bit so that I would be able to tell a story without the background being distracting or overwhelming. I trimmed sheets of plain white vellum and added them to the top of each page. I used my ATG adhesive on the vellum to glue it down to the page, and then added my photo and embellished my spread as usual.

To color in the wood frame embellishment, I used a teal marker and colored all the way around the wood. I then used a small amount of white acrylic paint and painted over the marker to give it this muted color. To create the matching alphas, I used the same teal marker on the foam alphas from this month's kit. One color marker helped to tie this entire spread together.

A Story About One of My Favorite Adventure Days

This TN spread was inspired by the 'adventure' acrylic piece in this month's kit. I pulled together some supplies that coordinated with the piece, including patterned paper, and this photo that had just enough orange to work perfectly. On this page, I documented an adventure that we had in Brooklyn with friends visiting from California. With the prompt written on the left side, I already had a title for the page. I did a little bit of journaling on top of the photograph to round out the story.
