Behind the Page

I got some new stickers in the mail yesterday, and decided to open them up and see what I could make. I love creating stickerscapes — a little landscape/story made out of stickers. Usually in these packets that I get each month from Pipsticks, there’s at least one or two sheets that make for a great stickerscape page.

Technique of the Day

Stickerscapes. Here are a few things I’m looking for when I pick out a sticker sheet (or two) for putting together a ‘scape.

  1. Variation of stickers — some focal stickers (like the fridge and the sink) to take up space, some coordinating stickers that tie into the theme (like the shelves, plant, & frame), and some accent stickers to fill out the rest of the space (like the little books and birds).

  2. A strong theme — it’s so easy to put together a page when everything on the sticker sheet already coordinates with each other. With today’s page, I really loved that the kitchen theme was super in your face. It made everything super easy to lay out on the page.

  3. Other stickers that fit — use more than one sticker sheet to really branch out and get some more variety. In today’s page, I grabbed a second sheet that had a bunch of birdhouses on it and grabbed one that matched the colors I already had on the page. It helped fill out more of the space, and let me expand on my little sticker story.

Reflections & Insights

One of the cool things about creating a stickerscape is that you’ve got a built in theme, ready for you to do some basic journaling about. Since today’s stickers were all about the kitchen, I decided to write out five things I love about my kitchen right now. I fit my journaling around the white space of my stickerscape, and I love how it fills out the full page.

Whatever your sticker theme is, you can easily come up with some related (or even totally unrelated) journaling prompts! It’s a super easy way to get down some thoughts into your notebook.
