Today’s Color
Behind the Page
Ooh, I started us off with a tricky color — I did not necessarily mean to kick off with a difficult color. But hey, it’s a great way to really dive into the challenge of it all.
I wanted to start off with a quick note on how I’m going to be engaging with color this month.
Collage Focus: I recently organized all embellishments by color, and I’ve been waiting for color month to dive into all the pretty goodness.
Markers: Markers are what I’ve got the largest color selection of, so if I need to use a more obscure color, I’ll find it in my marker sets.
Card Stock: I’ve got a great collection of card stock, including full 8.5 x 11 sheets, trimmed down scraps, and tiny bits.
Ink and Stamps: I’m a big stamper, so I’ve got a few really good collections of ink colors, including Versafine Clairs, and my Concord and 9th inks which match my card stock.
Watercolors: I’ve got a nice set of Holbein tube watercolors, which will let me create basically any color that I might want.
Acrylic Paints: I’ve also got a set of 48 acrylic paints from that I picked up at Michael’s. They’re the Liquitex basics and you can pick them up in a number of different colors and sizes.
Washi Tape: I went through a very very serious solid color washi phase, and I’ve got some great sets of washi tape that come in all the colors and all the sizes.
Technique of the Day
This page is a simple collection of solid color washi tape that I’ve collected. Originally, I was planning on covering the full page with the thicker tape, but I ran out after three strips, so I planned a little pattern with a few washi tapes that fell into the Maroon color family.

Tips & Creative Wisdom
In order to make this a successful color month — some pages are going to have to be simpler than others. That’s both true for me and for you. My weekend pages are probably going to be a lot simpler than my weekday pages. For the simple reason that I don’t usually create on the weekends, and it’ll be easier to make it happen if I don’t hold myself to my usually weekday 25-30 minute standard.
How can you help yourself find success this month?
