December Daily Pages 12/01/23: Done Shopping Die Cut + Color

Behind the Page

I finished all my Christmas shopping today! I wanted to mark the occasion and celebrate in my December Daily Pages book. My first thought was to play around with some paper that looked like wrapped presents, but then I decided I’ll use those supplies for when I’m actually wrapping the presents. So I found a PNG of a shopping cart and decided to go that way instead!

Technique of the Day

I looked for a shopping cart PNG that I could put through my electronic cutting machine. This one looked great and had lots of little squares to add color. I grabbed a piece of plastic packaging (just like the Daily Pages the other day), and glued it to the back of the shopping cart.

I took the alcohol ink markers that I have — I grabbed green, red, and teal — and started to color in the little squares. The result is really cool, and looks great on the gold watercolor background.

Tips & Creative Wisdom

Some journaling is just for you! I love using little envelopes to hide my journaling. For this one, I cut some white paper to fit in the envelope, and journaled about how it felt to finish up Christmas shopping so early (and how I was able to get it done). It felt like it should go in an envelope since it’s all about presents for other people! I added a little no peeking sticker as the perfect finishing piece.
